West Los Angeles Democratic Club general meeting with Gov. Michael Dukakis

Our keynote speaker will be Governor Michael Dukakis who, in 1988, was our Presidential candidate. Then, we will introduce Al Muratsuchi, our Democratic candidate for State Assembly in District 66 in the June 5 Primary.  We also hold our club elections at this time.

Governor Dukakis, who is a visiting professor in the Department of Public Policy at the School of Public Affairs at UCLA, is a vigorous proponent of grassroots politics, including the organization and implementation of precinct-level campaigning and will kick-off a discussion of our planning for the 2012 election campaigns.

Al Murarsuchi is running againt Tea Baggers Craig Huey, who ran a controversial campaign and lost to Janice Hahn for Jane Harman's seat in Congress in 2011, and Nathan Mintz. At stake is the Democratic Party's' chances to gain a functioning 2/3 majority in the State Assembly.
