Silicon Beach Fest

An overview of the first SIlicon Beach Fest. A look at the new companies, panels, and what they are doing to help promote Silicon Beach

On June 21-23 Silicon Beach held it’s first technology festival. Silicon Beach fest was a two-day festival bringing together the glitz and glam of LA, along with the technology and digital innovators and startups. This festival celebrates the burgeoning new LA tech scene. With over 2,000 attendees, speakers, volunteers and sponsors, this led to a great event. Eric Garcetti, the keynote speaker opened by saying, “This diversity gives us advantages in many industries, including entertainment, fashion and tech.”

The festival drew in celebrities, studio execs, artists, social media gurus, VC’s and more. All of these people were flocking to Southern California with the goal of making Silicon Beach the “great tech city”.

One of the featured panels included The Music: Discovery and Social Media Panel. This group uncovered the best ways to create new experiences for music lovers though live events and social media. This panel was interactive and took polls about how people find their music. Many people polled that they used Tumblr, Pandora and Spotify. Interestingly enough, The Grammy’s had their biggest social media event ever this year; Not coincidental, considering the push for all things social media.

Another popular panel was the TV Goes Social panel. This panel showcased the power of time shifting, downloads and the power of television. TV is changing programming, marketing, production and distribution. Hollywood execs Marc Karxen, Marc Scarpa, and others gave insightful information on the ever changing world of TV.

With all these great groups participating, Silicon Beast Fest proved to be a success and a permanent venture in Silicon Beach!
