Letter: Body Found on Venice Beach Was My Son, Randall

The following information was sent to Venice-Mar Vista Patch by Chuck Hedin.

The body found Wednesday was my only son, Randall.

He recently lost his friend who jumped off the Venice pier.

Randall had been in Venice for 10 months trying to find work and housing. Everything was too expensive he said. He started getting down and depressed. No one offered him shelter. He lost his ID, which didn't help much. He once wanted to be a police officer.

Randall played guitar and hoped to develop a better life in California. He is half Pueblo Indian and Swedish. His Indian name is Zigawanno Quanta which means "Lightning Thunder". We will miss his great humor and laughter. He needed some help. I just wanted to share a little about him.

Sincerely,
