Brothers Arrested in Suspicious Death of Relative

The two men in their 20s have been arrested in the death of 28-year-old Trinidad Sanchez.

A man died at a Culver City medical center Thursday of injuries he suffered in a family fight the night before, resulting in the arrests of two of his relatives, police said.

Officers were called to Southern California Hospital at 6:48 a.m. to investigate the suspicious death of 28-year-old Trinidad Sanchez, according to the Culver City Police Department.

Sanchez had been in a brawl with two members of his family on Wednesday night in the 1600 block of Washington Boulevard, police said.

"As a result of the altercation, Mr. Sanchez became ill and was taken to the hospital by relatives, where he succumbed to his injuries," according to a police statement.

Luis Benitez, 27, and 22-year-old Silvino Benitez, both of Los Angeles, were arrested and booked on suspicion of murder, police said.

The exact cause of Sanchez's death was under investigation by the coroner's office, according to police, who did not disclose how the victim and suspects were related.

Both suspects, believed to be brothers, were being held at the Culver City police jail in lieu of $1 million bail, according to sheriff's online jail records.
