Brush Fire Extinguished on Culver City Middle School Property

Fire damages overhead light fixture during 15-minute knock down, according to officials.

The Culver City Fire Department knocked down a 50-foot by 20-foot vegetation fire right near the creek on the middle school property Sunday afternoon. It was extinguished in approximately 15 minutes and no one was injured.

According to Battalion Chief Darryl Wells, the fire began at approximately 4:30 p.m. on the property. The fire's cause is under investigation.

"The only property damange was a light cover fixture melted," he said, noting there was some overhaul required to knock down the fire.

Wells said two engine companies, a ladder truck and one rescue vehicle responded.

Thank you Culver City Fire Dept.! There was a small brush fire along the fence inside the school, near the back of Room 139 and the parking lot. A tall light in the parking lot caught fire, don't know if it was first then the brush (cactus, trees, brush) or visa-verse. No structures were damaged.
