Car Chase Ends With Crash Near Venice Pier

The driver of a stolen Cadillac crashes near the base of the Venice Pier.

A man in a stolen Cadillac led police on a brief chase Monday night before crashing near the Venice Pier.

The chase began at 9:42 p.m. and ended four minutes later at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Ocean Front Walk, said Officer Rosario Herrera of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

The man, whose name and age were not available, crashed the car into a pole near the beach, but was not injured, said Sgt. Dennis Beacham of the Pacific Station.

Police received a LoJack notification of the car's location, Beacham said.
