A 24-year-old suspected drunken driver suffered major injuries today when he lost control of his car while exiting a freeway in Culver City and crashed into a retaining wall, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash on the Venice Boulevard offramp to the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway was reported to the CHP at 4:28 a.m., according to the CHP.

Culver City Fire Department paramedics took Nicholas Mariani, the lone occupant in the 2013 Cadillac ATS, to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center with major injuries, according to the agency.

Mariani's sedan sustained major front end damage and alcohol may have been a contributing factor to the crash, according to the CHP.
