City Council to Vote on $50,000 Reward in Venice Stabbing Murder

Guillermo Carmona-Perez, 24 years old, was reportedly walking from one job to another when he was stabbed in Venice Monday morning.

A $50,000 reward may be announced Friday morning for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the murder of 24-year-old Guillermo Carmona-Perez in Venice, according to City Council member Mike Bonin's office.

Bonin intends to officially announce the reward at a press conference Friday morning at a press conference held immediately after the vote on his reward motion. The Los Angeles Police Department has requested the reward in a case that has baffled investigators thus far.

“Guillermo’s murder is a disturbing and horrific crime and a tragedy for his family, friends and the entire Venice community,” said Bonin, who represents Venice. “Our neighborhoods will be safer once the person or people responsible for this crime are off the streets, and this reward will hopefully help the LAPD as we seek justice for Guillermo.”

Carmona-Perez was stabbed to death early Monday. He was found at approximately 12:15 a.m. when officers from LAPD’s Pacific Division were flagged down at Washington Boulevard and Pacific Avenue in Venice.

Officers found him lying in the street with an apparent stab wound. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported Carmona-Perez to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The LAPD is asking anyone with information about this case to contact police at (310) 382-9470.
