Natural Gas Line Ruptures in Mar Vista
The call came in from the 3500 block of South Centinela Avenue. The street was closed as a precaution. Centinela is expected to reopen about 2:20 p.m.

A natural gas line was ruptured today at a construction site in the Mar Vista area, prompting the closure of a street as a precaution.
The problem was reported about 12:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of South Centinela Avenue, according to Katherine Main of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Centinela Avenue was closed from Palms Boulevard to Rose Avenue as a precaution, but no evacuations were ordered, Main said.
Denise King of the Southern California Gas Co. said that a two-inch service line was broken by a contractor. The gas line was shut off about 2:10 p.m., she said, and Centinela was due to reopen by 2:20 p.m.
