Hot Prowl Suspect Caught on Speedway

Less than 24 hours later, and less than four blocks away from the scene, LAPD apprehend suspect in a Tuesday night burglary.

A suspect in a burglary Tuesday night on 28th Avenue and Speedway was apprehended Wednesday at approximately 5:30 p.m. after LAPD pulled surveillance video from the victim's building.

"He's even wearing the same clothes, and he has all their property on him," LAPD senior lead officer Peggy Thusing told Patch at the scene.

The burglary occurred at approximately 11 p.m. Tuesday night, according to a time stamp on the surveillance video. The residents were home at the time, although they did not discover the theft until Wednesday morning, when they reported it to the police.

Thusing said officers arrested the suspect on Speedway and 24th Avenue about 10 minutes after an image of a suspect was distributed to police on the street.

"This is a really good example of people having video surveillance helping us do our job," Thusing said.
