The Los Angeles Police Department's bomb squad determined early Wednesday morning that a suspicious device noticed by transients on Venice Beach was not an explosive device, officials said.
The police department was notified of the suspicious device near Ocean Front Walk and Sunset Avenue about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday and authorities cleared the area of pedestrians and residents.
The device was inspected by the bomb squad and a determination was made about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday that it was not an explosive device, said Officer Wendy Reyes, a spokeswoman for the LAPD.
