LAPD Squad Car Collides with SUV

The accident happened at the intersection of Olympic and Sawtelle boulevards around 3 p.m.

A Los Angeles police department cruiser collided with an SUV in a West Los Angeles intersection today, sending an officer to a hospital.

It happened about 3 p.m. at the intersection of Olympic and Sawtelle boulevards, according to Los Angeles police Officer Rosario Herrera.

The officer was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released, said Sgt. Clifton Frazier of the LAPD's West Traffic Division, which investigated the crash.

The cruiser was northbound on Sawtelle and the SUV was headed west on Olympic when the vehicles collided, he said.

Air bags deployed in both the cruiser and the SUV.

The SUV driver complained of pain, but was not taken to a hospital, Frazier said.

The crash closed westbound Olympic and both directions of Sawtelle.

The crash was being investigated by the LAPD's West Traffic Division.
