Man, 45, Wounded in Gang-Related Shooting in Venice Park

A gang-related shooting at Oakwood Park in Venice leaves one man wounded.

A 45-year-old man was wounded Thursday night after being shot near Oakwood Park in Venice in a gang-related incident, police said Friday.

The shooting occurred shortly after 8 p.m. in the 700 block of Broadway Avenue after the victim heard two men yelling derogatory names at him, said Sgt. Mitzi Fierro of the Los Angeles Police Department. One of the men fired six to eight times and the victim was hit once in the lower stomach, Fierro said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment and his injuries were not life-threatening.

There was no description of the suspects immediately available.
