Mar Vista Body A False Report

LAPD says no body was found.

The report of a dead body in Mar Vista Wednesday has turned out to be false, said Richard French, spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department, Thursday.

French told Patch someone called police to report they could lead them to a dead body, which turned out to "be a wild goose chase," he said.

The City News Service report said the discovery was made about 10:45 a.m. in the 3600 block of S. Centinela Avenue, and that it was not immediately known if foul play was involved in the death, nor did authorities immediately reveal the person's approximate age or sex.

Editor's Note: Below is the incorrect story. Patch apologizes for the error.
