News Van Goes Up in Flames on 405

Traffic was backed up for miles after a television news van caught fire on the 405 Freeway.

According to the Los Angeles City Fire Department, a television news van caught fire on the northbound side of the 405 Freeway at Getty Center Drive. The fire was reported at 10:37 a.m. Friday, backing up traffic for miles, according to the fire department.

LAFD Spokesman Matt Spence said he didn't know what set off the spark, but he said no one was hurt.

Spence said the fire was out by 11:03 a.m., but traffic was crawling on both the north and southbound sides of the 405 Freeway.
