Police Blotter: Crime Rates Up in Mar Vista

There was a sharp increase in violent crimes in Mar Vista between Sept. 25 and Oct. 1.

While crime rates jumped in 10 Los Angeles neighborhoods last week, Mar Vista recorded the highest spike in violent crimes, according to the Los Angeles Times crime mapping report.

According to the report, in the period between Sept. 25 and Oct 1, there were six violent crimes reported, compared with a weekly average of 0.5 over the last three months.

Mar Vista also recorded 10 property crimes over the last week.
