Police Blotter: Help Find Missing Man

Police are calling on locals to come forward if they have any information on an 88-year-old diabetic man, last seen near Sepulveda and National boulevards on Sept. 14.

Police are calling on the public to help them find 88-year-old Melvin Gelfand, who went missing along with his car some time in the morning on Wed. Sept. 14.

Gelfand, who is a diabetic, was last seen at his home in the 2900 block of Tilden Avenue near National and Sepulveda boulevards. His car – a 2007 silver/grey Toyota Camry with California License plates 5UPW238 – is also missing.

Police say he could be driving his car or he may have taken a Luxury Line Bus headed towards Valley View Casino in Valley Center, CA.

Gelfand is described as a Caucasian man with brown eyes, thinning white hair, 5’7’’ tall and weighing 146 pounds. He was last seen wearing black pants, a beige plaid shirt, a black Members Only jacket and a beige hat.

Anyone with any information should contact the LAPD Missing Persons Unit Detective Carlton at 213-996-1800.
