Police Recover Thousands of Stolen Items

Victims can view a photo database of stolen goods.

Police have recovered over 11,000 items that were snagged during home burglaries and that thieves attempted to resell, sometimes even at legitimate markets.

Earlier this year, the Los Angeles Police Department established a Knock-Knock task force, aptly named after robbers that knocked on doors to gain entrance to homes. The items were then sold to so-called “fencing operations” which buy the stolen property to resell.

One such robbery occurred in September, when four suspects robbed a home on the 12600 block of W. Sunset Blvd. and punched the resident in the face.

The investigation led to numerous search warrants and subsequent arrest at several “fencing” locations, resulting in over 11,000 looted items.

LAPD has set up an online photo slideshow depicting all the stolen goods. Any robbery victims who believe their property is among those included in the photographs can contact lapdvctf@lapd.lacity.org or leave a message at (818) 644-8091. People should describe the item and note the item number written on the yellow tab in the photo, as well as the address and date of the burglary.

It took my MacBook Pro several minutes to load the slideshow, so it may take a little while, but the address does work.

I'm having a hard time with the link, and I don't see this story posted anywhere on the LAPD site for verification. Are we sure the link address is accurate?
