Police to Apartment Dwellers: Lock Your Windows

Palms is experiencing a spate of burglaries in which thieves are entering apartments through first-floor bathroom windows.

Police today warned apartment residents in Palms to close and lock their windows after a spate of burglaries in the area.

Burglars are entering apartments through first-floor bathroom windows, Los Angeles police Department officials said.

The burglaries have occurred between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the area between Venice and Palms boulevards and Overland and Hughes avenues, police said.

Most of the targeted apartments had open or unlocked windows, authorities said.

Residents were urged to close and lock all windows and to be on the lookout for small or slender suspects who may use trash cans or bins to gain entry through small bathroom windows.

Any suspicious activity should immediately be reported, officials said.
