Update: Report of Man With Gun Prompts Helicopter Over Marina del Rey

The LAPD looks for a possible gunman reported on the roof of an apartment complex in Marina del Rey.

Two men, one with a pistol and a yellow bolt cutter, eluded officers on Monday after reports of a gunman on the roof of the Oakwood Apartments prompted police to set up a perimeter and dispatch a helicopter, officials said.

The report came in at about 7:40 p.m. and the Los Angeles Police Department set up a perimeter between Washington Boulevard, Via Dolce, Via Marina and an alley north of Panay Way around 8:30 p.m., and dispatched a helicopter as officers looked for the armed suspect, officials said.

Officers broke down the perimeter around 10 p.m. and made no arrests.
