Restaurant Raising Funds for Venice Stabbing Victim Guillermo Carmona-Perez

Mercedes Bar & Grill is holding a silent auction Monday night to benefit the family of slain staffer Guillermo Carmona-Perez.

A Marina del Rey restaurant will hold a benefit auction Monday night to raise money for the funeral of Venice resident Guillermo Carmona-Perez, who was stabbed to death in Venice last Monday.

On its Facebook page, the Mercedes Bar & Grille, where Carmona-Perez worked, will hold a silent auction beginning at 7 p.m. Monday. Carmona-Perez was found lying in the street around 12:15 a.m. after reportedly leaving the restaurant after work.

Police have yet to determine a motive for the murder and have not identified any suspect(s). Last Friday, the city of Los Angeles, following a motion by City Councilman Mike Bonin after a request from the Los Angeles Police Department, announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator(s).

Items in the silent auction include

  • VIP front row Chelsea Handler tickets
  • an Erwin Hotel suite
  • a Fox Spots signed football by Hall Of Fame Defensive End Howie Long, Superbowl champ Michael Strahan, Jimmy Johnson, head coach Dallas Cowboys, four-time Superbowl champ Terry Bradshaw and Curt Menefee, host NFL Fox Sports
  • Two one-night stays in a junior suite at the Clarendon Boutique Hotel in Arizona
  • OG Dogtown Z-boy Skateboard signed by Jim Muir

Auction proceeds and direct donations will go to the family of Carmona-Perez to help pay for funeral costs as well as ease financial strains. The 24-year-old, who held two jobs (at Baja Cantina and Mercedes Bar & Grille in Marina del Rey), has an infant son and female partner.

Monday night, Mercedes is donating the evening’s bar proceeds to Carmona-Perez’s family, according to a manager.
