Shots Fired in Whole Foods Parking Lot

A man was taken into custody last night after shots were fired in the Whole Foods parking lot on Lincoln and Rose near Mar Vista.

In a possible case of life immitating art, a man was taken into custody last night, but no gun or victim was found, after police locked down a portion of Venice for hours following reports of shots fired in the Whole Foods parking lot, police said.

The lockdown occurred around the intersection of Lincoln Boulevard and Rose Avenue as officers checked reports of a shots fired call in the area reported at 6:35 p.m., said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Karen Rayner. An officer who was sent to investigate called for help, Rayner said. It was not clear what the person was to be booked for, Rayner said.

No other suspects were being sought and there were no known victims, Rayner said.
