Shots Fired in Whole Foods Parking Lot

A man was taken into custody last night after shots were fired in the Whole Foods parking lot on Lincoln and Rose near Mar Vista.

In a possible case of life immitating art, a man was taken into custody last night, but no gun or victim was found, after police locked down a portion of Venice for hours following reports of shots fired in the Whole Foods parking lot, police said.

The lockdown occurred around the intersection of Lincoln Boulevard and Rose Avenue as officers checked reports of a shots fired call in the area reported at 6:35 p.m., said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Karen Rayner. An officer who was sent to investigate called for help, Rayner said. It was not clear what the person was to be booked for, Rayner said.

No other suspects were being sought and there were no known victims, Rayner said.

Detective Serna at LAPD Pacific Division told Patch that the citizens involved were uncooperative. “The man taken into custody was not booked,” she said, but the investigation is ongoing.

Whole Foods in Venice would not comment on the incident.

A viral YouTube Video by the group Fog and Smog, "It's Getting Real in the Whole Foods Parking Lot," about jostling Whole Foods customers was filmed largely at the same Venice Whole Foods location. Click on the video to the right of the article to watch it.

Let me clarify: All I tried to do was re-link to the video that was dumped when Patch revised itsRead More format. The Festival of the Chariots won't be coming to Venice for months.

One year, long ago, Alice Coltrane performed. Anyone know the year? Definitely in the 70's.

Thank you, David, for your lucid and edifying dissertation on Passover. You just about said itRead More all...I would only add that if people get a chance during the holiday to view the movie version of Fiddler On The Roof they will get a truly inspiring feeling for what it meant - and means - to be Jewish.
