Venice Beach Stabbing Victims 'Reluctant' to Talk to Police

The incident may be gang-related, police say.

Two men stabbed on the oceanfront walk at Venice Beach were "very reluctant" to cooperate with detectives and were undergoing treatment at a hospital for non life-threatening wounds, police said today.

The men were stabbed about 9:40 p.m. Saturday at Pacific and Windward avenues, said Sgt. Laura Curtin of the Los Angeles Police Department Pacific Division.

Both victims, who were in their 20s, were transported to hospitals for treatment, Curtin said.

Based on information provided by witnesses, police believe there were "at least two suspects" in the stabbing, said LAPD Sgt. John Marquez also of the Pacific Division.

"We have uncooperative victims, very reluctant" to give police information," Marquez said. "The incident was possibly gang-related," he added.
