Woman Killed Crossing Street

Melania Nuhbegovic, 86, died of her injuries at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, police say.

An elderly Redondo Beach resident was struck and killed while crossing Avenue C on Monday, according to a news release from the .

Melania Nuhbegovic, 86, was in the crosswalk when the vehicle hit her, police said. The driver stopped and tried to help her; he was not arrested or cited, and traffic investigator Jeff Mendence told the Daily Breeze that the driver did not appear to be under the influence of anything.

Nuhbegovic was transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The collision is still under investigation, police said.

If she was in the crosswalk it was his fault as she had the right of way so why did the cops not arrest him just because he stopped to help her ?

The word I got from a neighbor who talked to one of the cops is that the person who killed her was a a cop also. I saw this woman almost every day for years taking her walks. She would wait till no cars were coming till she stepped off the curb. Very careful. I think it is just another cop cover up.

Did either of you witness the accident? Cop cover up and making comments about this driver needing to be arrested are inaccurate and do not help the situation.
