"The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the face and was transported to a hospital for treatment," Gura said. "Paramedics told us his wounds were not life-threatening."

Gura said detectives and officers from the division's gang unit were at the scene, but he could not confirm if it was a gang shooting.

"Most likely it was, but that will have to be determined by the detectives," he said.

"Witnesses said they saw a gold Mercedes and a white Honda in the area at the time of the shooting," Gura said. "But we don't know if the shooter was in one of those cars or those cars were just in the area and left when the shooting occurred."

No other information was immediately available, he said.
