Albert Olson Honored by Rosendahl, MVCC

City Council Member, Bill Rosendahl presented the former neighborhood council chair with a certificate of appreciation.

Albert Olson, former chair of the Mar Vista Community Council, was honored for his service Tuesday night at the neighborhood council board meeting. City Council Member, Bill Rosendahl was on hand to present Olson with a certificate from the city and to thank him for his work in the community.

Olson resigned from the board unexpectedly in the middle of the council's December meeting because of a dispute on selecting a director for an open board seat.

Said Rosendahl, “Al is an incredibly bright and sensitive leader” who “I’m going to miss in leadership.”

Rosendahl credited Olson with making the Mar Vista Farmers’ Market into a place where community members could see their neighborhood council in action. “Every Sunday he’d be at the market interacting with citizens,” Rosendahl said. “His leadership with making that happen over the last three years has been instrumental.”

MVCC Green Committee co-chair, Jeanne Kuntz echoed that sentiment. Kuntz said, “It is wonderful to see Al recognized for all his hard work and wonderful to see everyone happy for him to spend time with his family.”

Olson, Kuntz said,  had helped her “to appreciate that the Green Committee was truly a part of the MVCC.” “After a couple of years,” she added, “he changed the way I experienced my involvement” with his consistent support and inclusion.

MVCC Board Members were equally laudatory. Chair Sharon Commins said, “It was a real pleasure to honor someone who has given so much.” “Al is a guy who gets out there and gets things done” for the community, she added.
Vice Chair Bill Koontz said Rosendhal’s presentation “went a long way in highlighting the excellent service of a truly great stakeholder.”

Rosendahl said he expects to see Olson back in a community leadership role in the future. “I’ll find a way to get him involved in other ways.” Rosendahl said.
