Be Sure to Request Your Vote by Mail Ballot by May 14

The city clerk is accepting applications for the May 21 election.

Vote by mail applications for the May 21 election are being accepted by Los Angeles city clerk until 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 14.

Applications can be mailed to the Office of the City Clerk - Election Division, 555 Ramirez St., Space 300, Los Angeles, CA 90012 or faxed to the Election Division’s Vote By Mail (VBM) Section at (213) 978-0611 or (213) 978-0612. 

Applications for a VBM ballot can be found on the back cover of the Official Sample Ballot and Voter Information Pamphlet which is mailed to all registered voters, according to June Lagmay, city clerk. To download an application, click here.

Registered voters can vote by mail regardless of whether or not they anticipate being “absent” on Election Day, she said. 

Mailed ballots must arrive in the Election Division office no later than the 8 p.m. close of polls on Election Day. A postmarked date is not considered valid, she warned. The city clerk's office is at Piper Technical Center, 555 Ramirez St., Space 375, in downtown Los Angeles.

In addition, voters have the option of dropping off their ballot at any polling place or at the Election Division office by the close of the polls.
