Bonin's iPads For Firefighters Plan Spelled Out in Video

The video was filmed during a January 6, 2014 ride-along Bonin participated in at Fire Station 5 in Westchester.

CD 11 Councilman Mike Bonin introduced a motion to the Los Angeles City Council back in July 2013 to provide firefighters with updated equipment including iPads.

Bonin’s “FIRST-IN” motion calls for a Fire Strategic Technology Integration  to the (FIRST-IN) Master Plan for the Los Angeles Fire Department. The plan would allow firefighters, paramedics, inspectors and commanders using antiquated maps, paper forms and clunky computers to upgrade to tablet devices.

The plan also calls for synchronizing the more than a dozen internal databases currently operated by the LAFD, enabling personnel of all ranks to work smarter, safer and more productively. A status update about the motion will be heard in the Innovation, Technology and General Services Committee on February 11.

To explain exactly how it works, Bonin took part in the video (attached).
