City Attorney Trutanich to Speak at Venice Neighborhood Council Meeting

Los Angeles City Attorney Carmen Trutanich is scheduled to address a variety of topics at Tuesday's meeting of the Venice Neighborhood Council.

The Venice Neighborhood Council meeting Tuesday will feature Los Angeles City Attorney Carmen Trutanich, who recently failed in his bid to become district attorney.

Trutanich, who announced that he will seek re-election as city attorney, was scheduled to discuss a variety of topics at the meeting of interest to Venice residents. The Venice Neighborhood Council suggested that Trutanich address topics that included: defining the role of the city attorney, the city attorney's opinion concerning sleeping on public streets, the closure of the Venice Beach boardwalk at night without a California Coastal Commission permit and efforts to regulate billboards, including those proposed in city parks such as Venice Beach.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Jackie Lacey and Deputy District Attorney Alan Jackson were the two-frontrunners in the June 5 election to replace District Attorney Steve Cooley.

The board also will vote on a motion to oppose the proposed Community Care Facilities Ordinance, which would restrict shared housing in single-family homes in Los Angeles. The board also will vote and discuss it annual budget, which has been reduced to $37,500 from $40,500 for the next fiscal year.

The Venice Neighborhood Council will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Westminster Avenue Elementary School, 1010 Abbot Kinney Blvd. The event is free and open to the public. Snacks and coffee will be provided.
