CRAAP Endorses Mike Bonin for City Council

Local organization against airport pollution is backing Mike Bonin for Los Angeles 11th District Council seat in March 2013.

Concerned Residents Against Airport Pollution is endorsing Mike Bonin to replace City Councilman Bill Rosendahl in the 11th district.

"Mike Bonin has been aware of the community concerns that surround Santa Monica Airport (SMO), and he has proactively helped to have these concerns heard. Now that the time is ripe for Bonin to move into the leadership role at City Hall,” CRAAP Director Martin Rubin said in a statement.

The organization lists Bonin’s experience at the federal level of government, when he served for Congresswoman Jane Harman, as well as his involvement in the future plans for Los Angeles International Airport, as a distinguishing factor in choosing Bonin.

“Mike Bonin has pledged to work with constituents, local, state, and Federal officials to realize that the land that is now Santa Monica Airport, can better serve the public in a much more environmentally friendly, as well as economical friendly way, if the airport were to close when the contractual agreement between the Federal Aviation Administration and the City of Santa Monica expires in 2015," Rubin said in a statement.
