Election and VNC Meeting

It's a political day in Venice. Get out and vote, then attend the VNC meeting at Oakwood Rec.

Get thee to the polling station, Venetian!

Tuesday is election day for our first special election of the year, to fill the late Jenny Oropeza's seat in the State Senate. We'll vote again in March, and at some point, we'll vote to replace Jane Harman in Congress, after she announced her resignation last week. I don't think this is what "vote early, vote often" was meant.

Voter beware: Your polling location may have changed since you voted in November's election. (Isn't this fun?) You can double check your location here

Tuesday night, the Venice Neighborhood Council is meeting to discuss everything on this agenda. They will meet at the Oakwood Recreation Center, not Westminster Avenue Elementary. Westminster is being used for the aforementioned democratic process.

Some highlights on the VNC's agenda include a motion to support the Westside Regional Alliance of Council's motion against the city's proposed plan to offer a 50-year lease on publicly owned parking garages; a motion to recommend approval for a three new  residential units at 726 California Ave.; and a motion to support a beer and wine application for 523 Rose Ave.

There will also be presentations on the Mayor's budget survey and proposed changes to the VNC bylaws.
