Google to Present at Venice Neighborhood Council on Tuesday

The director of the Internet firm's local office will talk to the community about moving in, and the panel will consider motions on beer and wine licenses, Main Street and billboards.

The Venice Neighborhood Council will meet Tuesday, and headlining the event will be Google’s Venice office director, Thomas Williams, who will give the board and the community an update on the Internet giant's plans to occupy the Binocular Building on Main Street.

The meeting will start at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Westminster Avenue Elementary School. (Enter from Westminster Avenue.)

Other agenda items include motions opposing a proposed ordinance that would ease billboard and electronic advertising regulations in the city and supporting a ban on alcohol advertising on public property.

on Main Street and on Lincoln Boulevard will both be seeking support from the VNC for beer and wine licenses.

There will also be a presentation and motion on the "Main Street Diet" plan, which would get rid of a lane of traffic between the Santa Monica city line and Windward Circle, instead limiting auto traffic to three lanes (one north, one south and one turning), in order to add bike lanes.
