Gruppioni Family Files Legal Claim Against City of Los Angeles

Attorneys for the family of Alice Gruppioni, killed on the Venice Boardwalk on Aug. 3, 2013, filed the claim Monday morning.

Shernoff Bidart Echeverria Bentley LLP served a 910 claim against the City of Los Angeles today on behalf of the family of Alice Gruppioni, who was tragically killed on August 3, 2013, while walking on the Venice Beach Boardwalk.

"This has been an extremely difficult time for our family," said Valerio Gruppioni, Alice's father. "We are thankful that we have each other to lean on, but we miss our darling daughter every day. We have faith in the American legal system to bring justice in this matter, and we look forward to closure for ourselves and our family."

A 910 claim is the first step in a civil claim against a government entity in the state of California.

"We believe this tragedy could have been avoided had the city acted in a timely manner," said attorney Gregory L. Bentley. "We intend to pursue justice through this claims process and to fully support the District Attorney's Office in their criminal pursuit of the matter."
