Letter: Poor Maintenance of Venice Boulevard

Linda Jones is calling on Mar Vista residents to pressure Caltrans to upgrade the condition of Venice Boulevard.

Dear Concerned Mar Vista Citizens:

I am writing to you regarding the protest I organized that was held last month against Caltrans for failure to maintain Venice Boulevard in usable condition.

I did receive an email back from Caltrans stating that they would begin the project this summer.  They would not give a month or other information.

Here below is the reply I finally got from Caltrans:

Situation Acknowledged. Unable to estimate time needed.

 Additional Message:

Dear Citizen, Thank you for your recent e-mail. Caltrans appreciates your concern for the California freeway system. The responsible Region Area Superintendent and Supervisor have been notified. Due to the nature of repairs for the identified roadway, securing of a paving contract is in process. Paving is scheduled for summer 2013. Scheduling may be impacted by unforeseen emergency and safety related situations. California Department of Transportation (Caltrans)
