A Los Angeles man pleaded no contest Tuesday to three felony counts stemming from a traffic stop in which an explosive device was found in his vehicle, leading authorities to find additional bomb-making materials in his apartment in the Palms area.

Robert Colt Wilson, 29, was immediately sentenced to eight years in state prison following his plea to one count each of possession of a destructive device on a street, possession of the ingredients to make a destructive device and possession of a controlled substance with a firearm.

Four other counts against Wilson were dismissed.
