The award was announced by the Los Angeles Board of Neighborhood Commissioners via a letter to the MVCC at its Sept. 10 meeting.

The Mar Vista Community Council has received a Civic Engagement Award courtesy of the Los Angeles Board of Neighborhood Commissioners, a subset of the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment (DONE), reports The Argonaut.

According to The Argonaut report, a letter sent to the MVCC board read, in part, that the award is handed out to those organizations that “reflect the highest ideals of inclusiveness, transparency, nondiscrimination and independence as set forth in the city charter and the plan for a system of citywide neighborhood councils.”

The Mar Vista Community Council will officially be presented with its award on Sat. Sept. 22 at Los Angeles City Hall.
