Mike Bonin Sworn Into Office at Google Building in Venice

The 11th District Councilman's swearing in ceremony took place at 6 p.m. on Sat. July 13.

Mike Bonin was officially sworn in as the new CD 11 councilmember at the Google Offices in Venice at 340 Main St. on Sat. July 13, at 6 p.m. Bonin chose his former boss and former CD 11 Councilmember Bill Rosendahl to administer the oath.

Following the ceremony, Bonin posted on his Facebook page:

Thank you to the hundreds of people who showed up to show your support and encouragement last night for my community swearing-in ceremony at Google in Venice. I was blessed by your presence -- and by incredibly moving performances by Vox Femina, the New Directions Veterans Choir, Mike Randle, the Mark Twain Bellringers, and, most movingly for me, Govindas & Radha performing sacred chants. Thanks to my amazing team for putting the event together, for the beautiful Shane Goldsmith for emceeing, and for Bill Rosendahl for administering the oath.

In addition to the entertainment Bonin mentioned, there was also food from local restaurants under the banner ‘A taste of CD 11.’

Bonin got right back to work the following day, holding his first set of “office hours” as promised in his Action 11 plan at the Mar Vista Farmers’ Market on Sunday morning.
