No Fourth of July Fireworks in Marina del Rey This Year
If you're used to watching the Marina del Rey Independence Day fireworks from Mar Vista, you'll have to look elsewhere, as the festivities have been canceled due to budget cuts.
There will be no rocket's red glare or bombs bursting in air over the skies of Marina del Rey this Independence Day due to budget constraints.
The Department of Beaches and Harbor recently made a quiet announcement on its website that there will be no fireworks display "due to budget curtailments.
"However, there will still be plenty to do in this popular seaside community," the county department said in its statement. "Hotels, restaurants, retailers and local attractions will be open, parks and beaches are popular, and it will be a great day to get out on the water for fishing, boating and cruising."

The fireworks display has been a popular July Fourth attraction for years in Marina del Rey with boaters lining the channel to watch pyrotechnics explode overhead, while thousands watched the display from the marina's Burton W. Chace Park and Fisherman's Village, or from nearby beaches in Venice and Playa del Rey.
Past displays have been provided by Zambelli Fireworks Internationale, a pyrotechnics company that dates back more than 100 years in Italy.
