Official 62nd Assembly Candidates List Released

The certified list of candidates competing in the June 5 primary election are released by California Secretary of State Debra Bowen. The 62nd Assembly District includes parts of Mar Vista as well as Venice, Marina del Rey and Playa del Rey.

The California Secretary of State's office Thursday announced the certified list of candidates who will compete for the 62nd Assembly District in the June 5 primary election.

The 62nd Assembly District includes parts of Mar Vista as well as Venice, Marina del Rey and Playa del Rey.

The candidates and their official ballot designation are:

  • Steven Bradford: Democrat / Los Angeles / Assemblymember
  • Mervin Evans: Democrat /Los Angeles / Author and consultant

The top two vote-getters in the June 5 primary election will advance to the Nov. 6 general election regardless of party preference or whether one candidate receives a majority of votes in the primary. The primary election will include elections for U.S. President, the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as state Senate and state Assembly seats.

Assemblyman Bradford is the incumbent in the 62nd Assembly District.

As of Jan. 3, 2012, there were 219,411 registered voters in the 62nd Assembly District with 61 percent registered as Democrats and 15 percent registered as Republicans.
