Officials Comment on Legal Steps Taken Against Mar Vista Pot Shop
The building once housed a Wild Oats retail grocery store.
With the announcement of a civil action filed by Los Angeles City attorney Mike Feuer against those involved in the opening of a medical marijuana dispensary in Mar Vista last week, City Council member Mike Bonin, who represents Mar Vista, issued the following statement:
“I’m thrilled that City Attorney Feuer is taking aggressive action to protect our communities, as Prop D promised. I stand with Mike in this effort, and I thank him for being a partner in putting our neighborhoods first.
"When I wrote to the owner of the proposed dispensary last month, I told him that a dispensary at this location would be illegal and would be met with strong and staunch opposition from the neighborhood, Mar Vista community and from me and the City of Los Angeles."
In addition Mar Vista Community Council Chairperson Sharon Commins said, "This is very good news. 3472 Centinela does not qualify for any medical marijuana dispensary use under Prop D. Furthermore, we have over 850 signers against the use at that location on our Change.org petition."
