Rosendahl Endorses Hahn for Congress

After appearing with her at the Mar Vista Farmers' Market on Sunday, City Councilman Bill Rosendahl has officially thrown his support behind Janice Hahn to represent the 36th Congressional District.

Janice Hahn's bid to replace Jane Harman as the new congressional representative for the 36th Council District received a huge boost Wednesday, with an official endorsement from Mar Vista resident and L.A. City Councilman Bill Rosendahl.

Rosendahl represents the 11th Council District, which encompasses a large swath of the 36th Congressional District, including Mar Vista, Venice and Marina del Rey.

In an official statement released Wednesday by Hahn's campaign office, Rosendahl said, “Janice Hahn and I have stood together on the City Council and fought for more jobs, a cleaner environment, and government transparency. Janice has been and will continue to be my partner in advocating for the communities surrounding LAX and Santa Monica Airport, and I am proud to endorse her for Congress.”

Rosendahl touted Hahn's Rosendahl record of successfully combating pollution near the Port of Los Angeles, standing up for low-wage workers, promoting economic opportunity, and voicing the concerns of her constituents as the reasons for backing her.

"We need [Janice's] voice and we need her fighting for us in the nation’s capital,” he said.

Rosendahl's official endorsement doesn't come as a surprise to Mar Vista residents who saw him campaigning with Hahn at last Sunday's .

Hahn issued a statement thanking Rosendahl for his support, saying, “He is a relentless and enthusiastic champion of causes I believe in.  It has been a privilege to work with him on the City Council, and I am eager to take our partnership to the next level in Washington, fighting for the environment, jobs, quality education, and affordable health care for all.”

Rosendahl says he plans to continue to campaign regularly with Hahn right up until Election Day. No date has been set yet for the special election, which is being called to replace Harman, .
