Rosendahl's Chief Deputy Announces Run for 11th District

Mike Bonin, Councilmember Bill Rosendahl's top adviser, announced he will run for Rosendahl's soon-to-be vacant seat.

Councilmember Bill Rosendahl's chief deputy announced Tuesday he will run to represent the 11th District on the Los Angeles City Council, following Rosendahl's announcement that he will not seek a third term.

Mike Bonin has worked in Rosendahl's office since 2005. Rosendahl sent a letter to constituents Monday night announcing his retirement and an endorsement of Bonin. Rosendahl began treatment for cancer late summer.

"It has been my honor to work with Bill Rosendahl as he fought for our Westside neighborhoods and for positive change for Los Angeles," Bonin said in a statement. "I am determined to continue Bill's tradition of community empowerment and creative problem-solving."

In addition to Rosendahl's endorsement, Bonin has already been endorsed by Herb Wesson, president of the L.A. City Council; and UNITE HERE Local 11.

"Bill is a friend, a mentor, and an inspiration," Bonin said. "His conscience, his boundless optimism, and his passion for serving our neighborhoods has set a gold standard for what it means to be a servant of the people."

Bonin will prioritize job creation, mass transit, and aid to homeless if elected to the city council, according to a press release.

Bonin currently lives in Mar Vista with his partner and he has also lived in Venice. He is a member of the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters, the Sierra Club, the West LA Democratic Club, the Pacific Palisades Democratic Club, the Westchester Democratic Club, and the Stonewall Democratic Club.

Let me clarify: All I tried to do was re-link to the video that was dumped when Patch revised itsRead More format. The Festival of the Chariots won't be coming to Venice for months.

One year, long ago, Alice Coltrane performed. Anyone know the year? Definitely in the 70's.
