Rosendahl Says School Supplies Needed For Homeless and Low-Income Families

The drive is through Friday, Aug. 17 and items can be dropped off at his three Dist. 11 office locations.

The start of a new school year is right around the corner and Councilmember Bill Rosendahl wants to make sure homeless and low-income families in Los Angeles are prepared with the tools they need for academic success.

In order to better equip Westside children for the academic year, the councilman is urging constituents to donate and drop off school supplies at any of his three council offices from Aug. 7 through Aug. 17.

"Educating our children is a top priority for our district and community," Rosendahl said. "Together we can provide homeless and low-income youth with some of the basic materials they will need in order to succeed."

All donations will go to St. Joseph Center‘s low-income and/or homeless clients. Here is a list of suggested items:

Writing Utensils:

  • Pens
  • No. 2 pencils
  • lead
  • pencil sharpeners
  • erasers
  • white-out
  • highlighters
  • markers
  • crayons
  • colored pencils

Other Basics:

  • Backpacks
  • spiral-bound or composition notebooks
  • 3-ring binders
  • notebook paper
  • calculators
  • rulers
  • glue sticks
  • liquid glue
  • scissors
  • pocket folders
  • scotch tape
  • staplers
  • index cards
  • red-ink pens

Again, these items can be dropped off during business hours at any of the District 11 council offices through Aug. 17.
