Venice Power Outage Impacts Community

Is your power back on?

By City News Service

More than 8,000 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers were without electrical service Wednesday at one point, mostly due to problems related to the first rain of the season.

Downed power lines in Venice left about 300 customers without juice about 11 a.m.

Leimert and the Mid-City areas were the hardest hit, with about 2,600 customers in Leimert Park losing service and about 2,000 Mid-City customers without electricity, Michelle Vargas of the DWP said.

About 3 p.m., outages affecting about 800 customers in Sylmar and Pacoima were reported, she said.

Some DWP customers may have to make do for as long as 10 hours until repairs are made and power is restored, Vargas said.
