A Salute to the Scholars of Venice High

Venice High School's Class of 2012 is sending its brightest to some of the most prestigious schools in the country.

Here's a salute to the scholars from Venice High School who will head off to college soon at some of the most prestigious universities in the country.

Venice High School valedictorian Boyu Cao will attend UCLA and fellow valedictorian Zakir Gowani is headed to the University of Chicago.

The Gondoliers' salutatorian, Michael Chung, will be walking the halls of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Class of 2012 graduates Molly Lieske, Michael Masani and Lowell Bander will be joining Cao on the beautiful UCLA campus. Nicholas Ten and Daniel Sobajian are going Ivy League, with Ten headed for  Yale University and Sobajian moving to the Big Apple and Columbia University.

Venice High's Danielle Vasquez is keeping it in California and will be headed to Stanford. Also headed to the Bay Area are Yesenia Luis and Rony Suica who are going to become Bears at the University of California, Berkeley.

Troy Meikle is headed to the Midwest and the University of Wisconsin and Phillip Hughes will be at Notre Dame.

Georgetown University will be the next academic challenge for Domesha Sibley, while Maya Roth will be taking her talents to Tulane University. Lauren Hong remains in the Golden State at the University of California, Davis.

Linnea Weaver is headed way up north and will attend McGill University in Canada.

Derick Tsukahira, a member of the Gondoliers' golf team that repeated its city championship in 2012, will be going to Santa Clara University. Clayton Yamaguchi, also a member of the championship golf team, will continue his golfing career at the University of California, San Diego. Fellow golf team member Kevin Cullen also will play golf at St. Martin's University  in Lacey, WA, while teammate Ryan Miyamoto will join Yamaguchi at UC San Diego.
