A Venice School Makes Newsweek's List of Best High Schools

Ánimo Venice Charter High School is among those recognized.

Ánimo Venice Charter High School is one of the Los Angeles high schools that made Newsweek's 2013 list of "America’s Best High Schools."

The list annually ranks schools across the United States who are most effective at preparing students for college.

CEO of Green Dot Public Schools Marco Petruzzi said the national ranking is truly an honor.

"We are proud of our rankings in Newsweek’s America’s Best High Schools 2013 particularly since many of the highest spots were claimed by selective schools or were in high-income areas," Petruzzi said. "These top rankings are a credit to the entire network of Green Dot schools whose teachers, college counselors, administrators and staff work every day to prepare students for college, leadership and life."

As part of the criteria, the magazine factors in each school's four-year graduation rate, the school's college-acceptance rate, the number of Advance Placement, or AP, and other high-level tests given to each student, the average SAT or ACT scores and the scores on the average AP or college-level tests.
