Animo Venice Baseball Makes City Playoffs

The Pirates are seeded sixth in Division III and play LACES in Friday's first round.

The City Section committee released its baseball playoff pairings Wednesday and Animo Venice Charter High School is seeded No. 6 out of eight teams in Division III.

The Pirates (10-5), who finished in third place in the Crosstown League behind Community Harvest and Port of Los Angeles, will play third-seeded Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies (LACES) in the first round Friday at 3 p.m. at Hamilton High.

LACES went winless in the Western League. Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies is the No. 1 seed and would not meet Animo Venice until the finals.

The Division III championship game is May 26 at 4 p.m. at Dedeaux Field on the campus of USC.
