Lewis Makes All-State Freshman Track Team

As a ninth-grader Windward's Ari Lewis posted one of the fastest 200-meter times.

Ari Lewis, a member of varsity girls track team, made the 2011 Year-End DyeStatCal/ESPN High School Track & Field All-State Freshmen Team.

She ran the 11th-fastest wind-aided freshman time in the nation in the 200 meters, clocking 25.79 at the SoCal Association USA Meet on June 12. The top wind-aided mark of the year by a freshman was posted at the same meet by Arianna Washington (24.19) of Long Beach Poly.

Washington also posted the fastest non wind-aided mark (24.01) at the finals May 21.

Lewis qualified in the 400 meters for the to be held July 26-31 in Wichita, Kansas.

Lewis, who runs club for , ran a personal-best 59.36 seconds in the 400 meter Intermediate Division prelims at Cerritos College in June, placing second behind Megan George (57.69). In the 200 meters she clocked 26.65 seconds, the third-fastest time.

Younger sister is also a standout track runner and qualified for the USA Track and Field Junior Association Regionals in San Diego as part of Windward Middle School's 4x800 relay.
