Little League All-Stars Head to District Playoffs

North Venice teams open tournaments this weekend at Culver City and Ladera fields.

North Venice Little League All-Star baseball and softball teams begin District tournament play this weekend in various age divisions. 

Culver City Little League will host this year's 11 & 12-year-old District 25 All-Star Baseball Tournament, which starts Friday at Bill Botts Field in Culver City. 

North Venice is one of nine teams are in the tournament. The others are Culver City, Culver Marina, Beverly Hills, Ladera, Santa Monica East, Santa Monica West, Malibu and West Los Angeles. The champion advances to the Sectional tournament.

Play begins Friday evening when North Venice plays Santa Monica East at 5 p.m. on Field A. The winner will play West LA at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 26. If North Venice wins it will play the Culver City-Beverly Hills winner in the quarterfinals June 29 at 5 p.m. on Field A. The championship game is Saturday, July 9, at 11 a.m., with a second and deciding game Monday, July 11, if an undefeated team loses the July 9 game. 

Ladera Little League is hosting the 10-11 division, where North Venice opens against either University or West LA at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28. The winner will face Santa Monica West or Culver Marina at 8 p.m. Friday, July 1. The championship game is Tuesday, July 12. A second and deciding game will be played Wednesday, July 13, if an undefeated team loses the July 12 game.

Culver City and Ladera Little Leagues are co-hosting the 9-10 age division. The 12-team tournament starts Saturday, June 25, when North Venice plays co-host Ladera at 3 p.m. at Culver City's Bill Botts Field. The winner will play Beverly Hills or University at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at Ladera. The championship game is Tuesday, July 12, at 5:30 p.m. at Ladera, with a second and deciding game at the same time the next night  if an undefeated team loses the July 12 game. 

The Junior Division, also hosted by Culver City Little League, starts Monday, June 27, and includes nine teams: North Venice, Culver City, West LA, City of Angels, Santa Monica East, University, Beverly Hills, Culver Marina and Santa Monica West.

North Venice plays Santa Monica West on Thursday, June 30, at 5:30 p.m., with the winner advancing to play Culver City, City of Angels or Santa Monica East on Friday, July 8. The championship game is Wednesday, July 13, at 5:30 p.m., with a second and deciding game at the same time July 14 if an undefeated team loses the July 13 game. 

The Senior Division, hosted by Beverly Hills Little League, will begin Thursday, July 7. North Venice is one of five teams in the tournament and opens against Santa Monica on Saturday, July 9, at 10 a.m., with the winner advancing to the semifinals to play Beverly Hills, Culver Marina or City of Angels. The finals are Wednesday, July 13, at 5:30 p.m., with a second and deciding game at the same time July 14 if an undefeated team loses the July 13 game. 

The West Los Angeles Little League has been chosen to host both the 9 & 10 and the 11 & 12-year-old District 25 All-Star Softball Tournaments and North Venice is one of four teams in the 11-12 age group. 

North Venice opens against Beverly Hills on Saturday, June 25, at 6:30 p.m. and the winner faces the West LA versus Culver City winner at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The championship game is Saturday, July 2, at 11:30 a.m., with a second and deciding game Sunday, July 3, at 10 a.m. if an undefeated team loses the July 2 game. 

The West LA fields are located at 1411 S. Sepulveda Boulevard in Los Angeles.
