Venice High Volleyball Makes City Playoffs
The Gondos are seeded 10th in Division II and travel to Monroe in the first round.
The City Section boys volleyball playoff seedings were determined Tuesday night and Venice High has been awarded the No. 10 seed in Division II. The Gondoliers travel to No. 7 Monroe of North Hills in the first round of the 16-team, single-elimination tournament Tuesday at 7 p.m.
If victorious, Venice will either host 15th-seeded Washington or travel to No. 2 Los Angeles Jordan in the quarterfinals next Thursday, also at 7 p.m. The Gondoliers (11-17-2 overall, 6-6 in league) swept their regular season finale at on Monday to finish fourth in the , and that result may have improved their position.
The semifinals are May 17 at 7 p.m. and the final is Saturday, May 21, at 2:30 p.m. at Roybal Learning Center.

Verdugo Hills is the No. 1 seed in Division II, followed by LA Jordan, Eagle Rock and Bravo Medical. Three other Western League schools are also in the 16-team draw. University is No. 6, Fairfax is No. 8 and is No. 12.
Western League champion Palisades is seeded No. 2 in the 24-team tournament. The Dolphins have a first-round bye and host the winner of Thursday's match between No. 15 Granada Hills Kennedy and No. 18 Chatsworth in the second round Tuesday at 7 p.m.

West Valley League champion Granada Hills, which defeated Palisades in four sets in a nonleague match in March, is the No. 1 seed in Division I and also has a first-round bye.
Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies, which finished sixth out of seven teams in the Western League, is seeded No. 6 in the Small Schools Division.
